Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for single-family rental homes managed by RENU.  This includes plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other property maintenance.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.  Inspects equipment and systems to identify problems or issues.
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples include general plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) repairs, drywall, door repairs, painting, and other repairs needed on rental properties managed by RENU. 
  • Conducts preventive maintenance to ensure that plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems continue operating properly.
  • Providing excellent customer service and promoting a quality living experience for all residents
  • Educating residents regarding all maintenance topics, including differentiating between resident responsibility and landlord responsibility
  • Completing general property condition assessments at all property visits and alerting the property management team when items require immediate attention
  • Obtains services of outside contractors when repairs require specialized training.
  • Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies needed for repairs.
  • Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of general plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs. 
  • Ability to perform general handyman duties
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • At least three years maintenance required
  • Apartment | Condo maintenance experience a plus
  • Strong desire to take ownership and help to maintain our national brand
  • Strong work ethic required
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills; multi-lingual a plus
  • Able to perform at a high-level in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Computer literacy is a must and candidate will be required to use online company software 

Contractor Requirements:

  • You must have your own TRUCK, SUV or VAN* for material purposes
  • You must perform quality work and possess excellent customer service skills
  • You must pass a background check
  • You must pass drug screen and be subject to repeat or random screens
  • You must have valid driver's license, liability insurance, and adequate auto coverage 
  • You must own a standard set of tools to perform skills/trades
